Who I Am

I’m one of those people who absolutely hates writing about themselves, but I’ll give it a shot.

My name is Beth (she/her), and I can generally understand multiple perspectives on an issue. This is beneficial when I’m meeting someone for the first time or debating an issue I feel strongly about. It is not beneficial when I need to make a major decision.

There are two things that people told me when I was a child, and I vehemently disagreed with both of them. My mother said I would be a teacher. I was. The other is that I would change my mind about not wanting to have children. I did.

I’ve always loved books. I used to get in trouble as a kid for reading in my closet with a flashlight past my bedtime. Yep, I was a real rebel back in my day. Writing is a stress reliever and creator for me. We have a love/hate relationship.

I am most at home in nature. I’ve always been fascinated by animals, plants, fungi and ecosystems. I also love moving through nature: hiking, camping, mountain biking, running. You name it.

Some of my joys in life are my family, my former students and working in my garden and yard.
